内容提要

本书是根据狄更斯的同名著名小说改编的优秀剧本。主人公皮普是

一个可怜的孤儿，他得到一个神秘逃犯的帮助，成为上等人，然而有钱人

的虚伪、变态和劳动人民的真诚、朴实使他最终认识到成为上等人并非理

想的人生。

PIP: If you would kindly let me keep upright, sir, perhaps 1

shouldn't be sick and perhaps 1 could attend more.

CONVICT: You bring that file and them wittles' to me in this

churchyard tomorrow morning early.

PIP: Yes, sir.

CONVICT: And never dare to say a word of having seen such

a person as me.

PIP: No, sir.

CONVICT: And if you do, your heart and liver will be tore

out an' roasted an' et'. .. There is a young man hidden

with me and in comparison with him, I'm an angel. ..

That one man has a secret way of getting at a boy, and

at his liver. A boy may lock his door, may be warm in

bed, but that young man will softly creep his way to

him, and tear him openl Say, 'Heaven strike you dead

if you don't. '

PIP: Heaven strike me dead if 1 don't.

[Convict holds Pip's shirt collar, puts him on his feet and

pushes him. Pip looks back, stumbles and falls. He rises and

jumps through broken wall to churchyard.]

CONVICT: Now you know what you promised, young man,

get off home!

PIP: Goodnight, sir.

[Joe the blacksmith's home. ]

PIP: Hello, Joe.

JOE: Mrs. Joe's been out a dozen times looking for you, Pip.

She's out again, now, making it a baker's dozen'.

PIP: Is she?

JOE: And what's worse, she's got tickler along with her,

罪 犯：明天一大早，你替我把锉刀和威脱斯拿到墓地来。

皮 普：是，先生。

罪 犯：决不能走漏一点风声，说你见过我这么个人。

皮 普：不会，先生。

罪 犯：如果你走漏了风声，你的心肝就会被挖出来，烤熟了吃

掉……有一个小伙伴躲在我身边，跟他比起来，我简直

是个天使。那个小伙子有一套独特的法术，专会捉小孩

子，挖小孩的肝吃。哪怕小孩子把自己锁在屋里，钻在

热被窝里，那个小伙子也会悄悄地爬到他的床上，扒开

他的胸膛！说，“如果做不到，天雷打死你。”

皮 普：如果我做不到，天雷打死我。

［罪犯抓住皮普的衣领，把他放下站住，推了一把。皮普回头，脚

下一绊，摔倒了。他站起来，跳过断墙进到教堂墓地里。］

罪 犯：别忘了你答应过的事，小伙子，快回家去吧！

皮 普：再见，先生。

［铁匠乔的家。］

皮 普：哈罗，乔。

乔： 乔大嫂出去找了你十二次了，皮普。她现在又出去了，

这是第十三次。

皮 普：是吗？

乔： 更糟糕的是，她还随身带了那根挠痒棍呢，
