I was born a slave in Tuckahoe,Maryland,on the east side of Chesapeake Bay.Tuckahoe is in Talbot County,about 12 miles from Easton.I do not know exactly when I was born. I never saw any record of it. Most slaves know as little of their ages as horses know of theirs.Most slave masters want to keep their slaves as igmorant as possible.
